Known as the Madagascar Giant Swallowtail, the antenor has a 12–14 cm wingspan. This large, colourful butterfly is only found in the Madagascar tropics of Africa.
The forked appearance of the swallowtails' hind wings, can be seen when the butterfly is resting with its wings spread.

Name: Attacus atlas, male
Location: West Java
The Atlas moth is among the largest moths in the world. They are found in the tropical and subtropical forests of Southeast Asia, and are common across the Malay archipelago.
In India, Atlas moths are cultivated for their silk in a non-commercial capacity. Their brown, wool-like silk is thought to have greater durability than found in silkworms. Atlas moth cocoons have been employed as purses in Taiwan.

Name: Papilio ulysses - autolycus
Location: West Irian
The Ulysses butterfly, also known as the Blue Mountain Swallowtail, is endemic to Australasia.
The female of the species is different from the male in that she has little crescents of blue in the back, upside sections of her hind wings, where there is only black for males.
When in flight, the butterfly can be seen hundreds of metres away as sudden bright blue flashes. Males are strongly attracted to the colour blue, including blue objects which are sometimes mistaken for females.

Name: Papilio blumei, male
Location: Central Sulawesi
The Peacock or Green Swallowtail is found only on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi.
The colors on the wings of some of these butterflies are metallic and are eye catching especially when viewed from a particular angle.
This butterfly’s wings contain rows of very small concave surfaces that reflect light in many ways. The center of the concave surface reflects a yellow-green light and the edges reflect a blue light.

Name: Morpho deidamia - annae
Location: Guyana
The Morpho deidamia are Neotropical butterflies, found in Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Surinam, Bolivia, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Brazil.
Many subspecies, including brisseis, from Peru, have been described.
Basal part of the upper surface in the males are brilliant steel-blue, the distal area of both wings delicate light blue. In the female the proximal region is darkened, being broadly black, though with intensive metallic reflection.

Name: Hebomoia leucippe
Location: Indonesia
This large species ranges from India, through islands of South-east Asia to Japan. H. leucippe is one of the most brightly coloured of all Hebomoia species.
There are two generations annually. The wet season form being larger than the dry season form. Sexes are quite similar, although the female's habits are more secretive than the male, who is commonly found darting along hilly countrysides.
The underside of the wings have a certain blending appearance to dying leaves, offering some camouflage.

Name: Argema mittrei, male
Location: Madagascar
The Comet Moth is an African moth, native to the rain forests of Madagascar. The male has a wingspan of 20 cm and a tail span of 15 cm, making it one of the world's largest silk moths.
The cocoon of the Comet Moth has numerous holes to keep the pupa from drowning in the daily rains of its natural habitat
Although endangered in the wild due to habitat loss, the Comet Moth is being successfully bred in captivity.

Giant Atlas moths have transparent windows on both forewing and hindwing, bordered in black. The purpose of these, giving the impression of movement, and are thought to play a role in predator avoidance.
The Atlas moth body is covered in a chitin-based hair, stiff enough to be an irritant to skin and mucosal tissues of some animals.
Females are larger in size, with less tapered wings, and smaller antennae.

The Paper Kite, Rice Paper, or Large Tree Nymph butterfly is known especially for its presence in butterfly greenhouses and live butterfly expositions. The Paper Kite is of Southeast Asian origin.
Their flight is slow, weak and fluttery. They glide a lot giving members of this genus the other name of Paperkite. Often gliding above the tree canopy but every now and then moving lower down in forest openings. They are unpalatable like other members of the Danainae.

Location: Thailand
These butterflies, also known as Jungle Queens, inhabit the dense, mountainous rainforests of Thailand, Burma and Vietnam.
Like other butterflies of their genus, the underwings of the Stichophthalma's, in contrast to their upperwings, are often dull and in some species look remarkably like dead leaves, or are much paler, producing a cryptic effect that helps the butterfly disappear into its surroundings.

This stunning metallic butterfly has wing colors showing variable colouring ranging from light lavender, to pale blue to sky blue. The Morpho Godarti exhibits different hues when viewed from varying vantage points.
As with other Morpho butterflies, the color and brilliance are structural and thus are particularly enduring.
Also called Godart’s Morpho, it is a Neotropical butterfly found in Peru and Bolivia.

Location: Canada
The Polyphemus Moth is a North American member of the giant silk moth family. It has an average wingspan of 15 cm . Large, purplish eyespots on its two hindwings are its most notable features.
The species is widespread in continental North America, with local populations found throughout subarctic Canada and the United States. The caterpillar of the Polyphemus Moth can eat 86,000 times its weight at emergence in a little less than two months.

These butterflies known for their huge eyespots, which resemble owls' eyes, are also known as the Pale or Giant Owl butterfly. They can be found in the rainforests and secondary forests of Mexico, and in the Amazon rainforest.
The wingspan is usually from 11 to 13 cm, but can reach 15 cm.
Adults feed on juices of rotting fruit. Their large size could make them easy prey, so the butterflies preferentially fly at dusk, when few avian predators are around.

Location: Peru
The King Swallowtail is a butterfly found in the southernmost United States, Mexico, Central America and South America. The species is easily confused with the Giant Swallowtail, which it closely resembles in both larval and adult stages. Thoas caterpillars, however, feed on plants of the black pepper family, while giant swallowtail larvae eat the leaves of citrus plants.
Adult Thoas swallowtails fly year round in the tropics, feeding on nectar of a variety of flowers, including Lantana, Stachytarpheta, and Bougainvillea among other species. The wingspan is 10-13 cm.

Location: Palawan Island
The Palawan Birdwing or Triangle Birdwing is a birdwing butterfly, endemic to Palawan in the Philippines. It is one of only two species in its genus, the other being the more widespread Rajah Brooke's Birdwing, but (among others) the male Palawan Birdwing has narrower green bands on the rearwings.
This species is included in CITES Appendix II,[1] restricting international export to those who have been granted a permit. The wingspan is approximately 18–19 cm. The species may be observed flying at any point during the year.

Name: Morpho didius, male
Location: Southern Peru
The Giant Blue Morpho, is a Neotropical butterfly belonging to the Nymphalidae family. It is considered, by some authors, to be a subspecies of Morpho menelaus.
Morpho didius has a wingspan reaching 150 millimetres (5.9 in), one of the largest size of Morpho species. The surfaces of the wings are iridescent and metallic blue and the upperwings are quite elongated.

Name: Acherontia atropos
Location: Czech Republic
A. atropos is commonly called the Deaths Head Moth, because of the profusion of coloured hairs on the thorax that take on the image of a skull. This moth has the unusual ability to make loud squeaks when handled.
The Deaths Head Moth mimics the scent of the Western Honey Bee (Apis mellifera). Using its scent to advantage, this moth is able to raid bee hives without being attacked as it forages for honey.
The fully grown caterpillar will burrow into the ground and pupates within its chamber.

The Urania ripheus species is considered to be the most beautifully coloured moth in the world. Its iridescent quality of polychrome tints, its unusual shape, and rainbows of colour make it a most desirable species for collectors. For this reason the species is now bred in captivity on the island of Madagascar.

Breeding the beautiful Urania ripheus moth in captivity provides very high-grade specimens in sufficient quantity to satisfy demand. This removes any threat against the moth's population levels in their natural state.
