Name: Eurycnema goliath
Location: Java
The Goliath Stick Insect is the second largest stick insect (after the Titan stick insect) and though not as long, the insect has a heavier, sturdier build. The first instar of a nymph is small, brown, and ant-like, without wings.
Adult insects are green and yellow, very large, and have wings. Colourful patterns on the underside of the wings of Goliaths are used as a defence tactic in order to ward off predators.
The females can reach lengths of up to 25 cm. Males are smaller, slimmer, and darker in color as compared to females. While both sexes have wings, only the lightweight males can fly, as the females have a large, heavy abdomen.
Goliath stick insects are extremely hard to find due to their camouflage and tendency to hide in tree tops. They can be found mostly in Eucalyptus trees, or small native flowers such as acacias.

Location: Timor
The Red-Winged Green Giant Stick Insect is native to Java and Timor. Females are much larger than males, reaching between 18-23 cm in length.
These large insects are capable of regenerating limbs and commonly reproduce by parthenogenesis. Despite their bizarre, even threatening appearance, they are harmless to humans.
Masters of disguise, the Red-Winged Green Giant Stick Insects are gentle herbivorous insects that "hide" in plain sight. Commonly found in Indonesia, versirubra insects spend 95% of their time being motionless!

Name: Phyllium gigantuem, female
Location: West Malaysia
This is the largest species of the Phyllium leaf group, and lives in the highlands of Malaysia.
The female can reproduce without needing a male to fertilize her eggs. Between 100 and 300 eggs are laid, which then incubate for five and a half months.
Newly hatched nymphs are reddish brown and take four to five months to mature. They turn green after the first molt. Many adult specimens display brown patches along the legs and body to look like a leaf starting to decay, adding to their camouflage.
Giant Leaf Insects primary sources of food are the leaves of Salmon berry, eucalyptus and bramble.
These insects move very slowly when feeding, living their lives almost motionless.
